a slow slug slipping on a log.  Seth-Aaron
a beautiful fantail hiding in a tree.  Charli
a song thrush laying eggs.  James
a tiny red spider crawling on a leaf.  Scarlett
a colourful moth flying high above.  Annie J
a slippery slug hiding under a leaf.  Oliver
a black beetle going fast around a tree.  Riley
a fluttering fantail searching for food.  Claudia
a bellbird singing on a branch.  Summer
a fly hanging around my food.  Ben
a tiny spider in my net!  Nathan M
a black beetle scurrying along the dirt.  Mason
a huhu grub curled up in a ball.  Katie

Goosebumps Books!

The Goosebumps book series seems to be very popular in Discoverer's 1 at present.  If you feel they are too scary for your child to be reading, please let us know so we can stop them being checked out of the library.  Thank you.

Thank you from the rabbits

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for offering to do rabbit duty at the weekends and/or taking care of them over the holidays.  If you missed out this term, I would like to put you on duty in Term 2 if that suits. I will put out another form closer to the time so you can let me know which weekends you will be unavailable.
Thanks again.

Child Friendly Search Engine

11/05/2018

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Currently we are showing our Discoverers how to use Accessit (our Library catalogue -http://accessit.stmartins.school.nz:2000/#!dashboard ) to find great websites to help them with their inquiry work - websites which have been identified as useful and safe which they can access with a couple of clicks and without having to dive into Google.

We're also introducing them to Kiddle (https://www.kiddle.co), a child friendly search engine which retrieves websites aimed at young students.

We'd really appreciate it if you would bookmark these sites for them on your home computer so that they can quickly find them for their own use.  While you're there take a quick look yourself, hopefully you'll find some useful information too e.g. the parent collection available for loan under the quick lists tab.

There are many other things that Accessit can do for our students but our focus at the moment is on quickly finding appropriate websites.  If you'd like to know more take a look at the how to use this web app video on the front page or contact me if I can clarify anything for you.

Kind regards
